Nirmala Sathe, 34, lives in Ahilyanagar. She was living a happy life with her husband and two children. But a few years ago, her husband passed away due to health issues. After his death, Nirmala had to take care of everything on her own. Since she could not study further after class 10 due to financial constraints, she began working as a domestic worker to support her family.

Later, she faced an even bigger challenge. Nirmala was diagnosed with paralysis. Her illness affected the family’s income badly. Her elder son started working in an MIDC company while continuing his education. The younger son also began working at a hotel at a very young age to support the family. They spent a large amount of money on Nirmala’s treatment but never lost hope. With their care and support, Nirmala slowly recovered and regained her strength.
One day, Nirmala learned about YouthAid Foundation (YAF), which provides training programs to help people from marginalised communities. She decided to join the Security Guard Training program. She first completed Soft Skills training, where she learned communication skills and basic digital tasks. Then she completed a ten-day Hard Skills training program.
After completing her training, Nirmala attended an interview and received a job offer from Digvijay Enterprises, the same company where she trained. She now works in Pay and Parking services as a Security Guard. Nirmala works an 8-hour shift and earns a monthly salary of ₹10,000. She feels proud that she can now support her family while also managing her home responsibilities. Despite many challenges, Nirmala never gave up. With her strong spirit and courage, she has rebuilt her life and become independent again. Nirmala is now confidently moving forward, giving her family a better and hopeful future.
