In the bustling city of Pune, a young boy named Abhishek Keshav Wankhede grew up in a close-knit family where love and resilience were the cornerstones of their simple life. Abhishek’s father earned a living driving a rickshaw, while his mother toiled diligently at PNG Jewellers. Despite modest means, the family found joy in togetherness. Under his parents’ guidance, Abhishek imbibed the values of hard work, unity, and perseverance. Sharing his home with two elder sisters, he juggled responsibilities from an early age, learning life’s lessons through their collective struggles and triumphs.
Amid these modest beginnings, Abhishek’s journey of transformation began. While he was an average student academically, a deep desire burned within him to rise above circumstances and make a difference. At the age of eleven, a friend’s casual suggestion brought him to CYDA’s Youth Resource Center (YRC). Initially shy and hesitant, Abhishek stepped into a world of opportunity. Music and martial arts classes became his sanctuary, building his confidence and helping him express himself in ways he had never imagined.
The true turning point in Abhishek’s life came through CYDA’s “Samzo To” program, a civic engagement initiative that kindled his sense of responsibility toward society. Immersed in discussions and activities, he experienced the transformative power of community and leadership. Encouraged by his mentors, Abhishek began sharing his ideas with others, igniting his passion for making a difference. His dedication and commitment earned him a spot on YRC’s core team, where he took the lead on addressing pressing social and environmental challenges.
Abhishek’s defining moment arrived when he decided to run for YRC’s presidency. Fueled by sincerity and a determination to serve, he embarked on a heartfelt campaign. With every step, he pledged to lead with integrity and commitment, rallying the trust and support of his peers. The day he was declared President was a triumphant culmination of his journey—a validation of his hard work, resilience, and the faith his community placed in him.
For Abhishek, leadership was never about titles. It was about fostering hope, inspiring others, and giving back. Even as he contemplated his future, his focus remained on uplifting others and creating opportunities for them to thrive. Through his role at YRC, Abhishek led by example, proving that leadership is about compassion, vision, and the ability to bring people together.
