How STEM Transformed Mansi’s Future!

Dreaming beyond challenges

In the lively streets of Janta Nagar, Yerwada, and Pune, 15-year-old Mansi Vilas Pawar nurtures dreams of a brighter future despite her family’s daily struggles. Her father, a dedicated driver, and her mother, a devoted housewife, work tirelessly to make ends meet for the family. Despite their limited income, Mansi’s unwavering passion for learning shines, particularly in Mathematics and Science. Her curiosity and determination to excel in these subjects reflect her aspirations to overcome challenges and achieve her goals.

A journey from struggles to STEM success with CYDA

Mansi’s academic journey was filled with challenges. Traditional teaching methods made it difficult for her to grasp complex concepts, leading to a decline in her confidence and dimming her aspirations. However, a turning point came in November 2020 when she joined CYDA’s Community Resource Center. The supportive environment and innovative teaching techniques reignited her interest in learning, empowering her to overcome obstacles and take meaningful steps toward achieving her dreams. CYDA introduced her to the transformative world of STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics—through interactive workshops and hands-on activities. These programs made learning engaging and accessible, allowing Mansi to explore concepts with curiosity and excitement. CYDA’s holistic approach enhanced her understanding of complex subjects and also boosted her confidence as well. For Mansi, STEM was more than just a curriculum—it was a gateway to new possibilities, helping her envision a brighter future and inspiring her to overcome challenges with determination and enthusiasm.

“Mathematics and Science seemed so distant before,” she recalls, her eyes lighting up with newfound enthusiasm. “But seeing and doing things practically made everything click. I’ll never forget how much I learned this way – says Mansi

From passive learner to confident explorer

One particularly transformative experience for Mansi was a five-day CYDA STEM workshop that marked a significant turning point in her learning journey. During this workshop, she transitioned from being a passive learner to an active participant, fully engaged in experimenting and discovering. The hands-on approach helped simplify complex theories, making them manageable and easier to understand. Beyond the workshops, CYDA organized exposure visits to inspiring places like the science park and Savitribai Phule Pune University. These visits were eye-opening, broadening her horizons and providing her with valuable learning opportunities beyond the classroom. They were not only educational but also sparked curiosity and broke old superstitions, strengthening her trust in science and logical thinking. Her confidence began to grow, empowering her to embrace challenges and aspire to new possibilities in her academic journey.

“Previously I used to be afraid to take the initiative or participate in any activities, “But now, I feel confident and motivated because of CYDA” – says Mansi

Empowerment, Transformation, and Inspiration through CYDA

The impact of STEM extended far beyond academic improvement. Mansi’s newfound confidence has transformed her, both academically and personally. She’s now a vibrant, enthusiastic student, eager to explore the world of science. She dreams of pursuing a career in science, breaking barriers, and inspiring other young girls in her community to do the same. Her journey with STEM has given her not just knowledge, but a vision for the future. Mansi’s story is a piece of evidence to the power of innovative education. Despite financial hardships and initial struggles, Mansi’s determination, combined with the supportive environment of the CRC, has carved a path to a brighter future. Her journey from confusion to clarity, and fear to confidence, serves as a powerful beacon of hope. It inspires others to embrace the transformative power of education and recognize the limitless potential within every child, proving that perseverance and learning can lead to remarkable personal and collective growth.
