As we celebrate International Women’s Day, the theme of Economic Empowerment of women from grassroots resonates deeply. In a world where women’s empowerment is still a work in progress, it’s heartening to see women from diverse backgrounds rising above challenges to become successful entrepreneurs. This story delves into the inspiring stories of women entrepreneurs from Pune, who have turned their passions into successful ventures, and are now showcasing their products and services at a unique grassroots entrepreneurs’ exhibition.
The exhibition, organized by YouthAid Foundation on 8th and 9th at Creaticity Mall, spearheading to promote grassroots entrepreneurs in association with CYDA and supported by Coforge CSR’s Volunteer program. The Foundation brings together over 20 women entrepreneurs from various sectors, including food products, handicrafts, fashion, and home decor. As you walk through the exhibition, you’re struck by the diversity of products on display, each with its unique story and significance.

Today, her handcrafted hair oil is a hit among women looking for natural and effective hair care solutions. “I want to empower women to take care of their hair and skin naturally,” Kalyani says, her eyes shining with determination.
Nearby, Kavita’s Utkarsh Bags catch your attention with their vibrant colors and intricate designs. Kavita’s journey as an entrepreneur began with a small idea – to create eco-friendly bags that would replace plastic bags. Today, her bags are not only a fashion statement but also a symbol of sustainability. “I want to promote eco-friendly choices and empower local artisans,” Kavita says, proudly displaying her creations.
As you explore the exhibition, you come across Pooja Karwa’s Traditional Charkha, which revives the ancient art of hand-spun weaving. Pooja’s passion for preserving traditional crafts is evident in every thread of her beautifully woven fabrics. “I want to create opportunities for rural weavers and preserve our cultural heritage,” Pooja says, her hands moving deftly as she demonstrates the weaving process.
