Sarinath Ashok Zinjade, from the small village of Lagadwadi in Nanded district, has lived a journey filled with challenges and courage. As a bisexual individual, he has faced many obstacles while trying to build a stable life. After completing his B.Com, he began searching for a job to support his family. Despite attending multiple interviews, he faced repeated rejections, which gradually eroded his confidence. He realized that starting a business was a better option than seeking a job.

In 2023, he began a small betel stall near his locality, using just a table. However, the early days were difficult. There were already two betel shops in the area, and competition was tough. His daily earnings often ranged from Rs. 500/- to Rs. 700/-. The slow business made him feel tired, doubtful, and at times, even question his decision to start the business.
Everything changed the day he met Mr. Gajanan, who introduced him to Centre for Youth Development and Activities (CYDA), an organization committed to empowering marginalized communities through business training. Though uncertain at first, Sarinath eventually joined the training, a decision he considers one of the most important steps of his life.
The training transformed the way he ran his business. The sessions were simple, practical, and easy to follow. He learned how to manage money wisely, attract more customers, and enhance the look and feel of his stall. He also developed essential skills in hygiene, polite communication, and maintaining proper income and expense records. These small but significant changes began to make a big impact.
CYDA further supported him with financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/-, which he used to upgrade his stall. He purchased a better counter, introduced new items such as mouth fresheners and snacks, and made the stall cleaner and more appealing. Customers soon noticed the improvement.
With these changes, Sarinath’s daily income increased from Rs. 700/- to Rs. 1,500/. He now earns more, saves more, and feels proud of his work. This journey has brought him renewed confidence, hope, and dignity. He has learned that success becomes possible when one believes in oneself and continues to learn.
Sarinath is deeply grateful to CYDA for their timely support. Their guidance and financial help gave him the strength to overcome the challenges of running a small business. He believes that in a society where individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community often face barriers, it is crucial to stay focused and keep moving forward, no matter what others say. Having faced judgment and criticism, Sarinath has learned to remain strong and committed to his dreams. Today, he stands proud as a confident small business owner. His journey reflects the power of self-belief, hard work, and supportive guidance.
