CYDA’s Non-Traditional Livelihood Training Program, supported by Bajaj Finserv in Sambhajinagar, is transforming the futures of young women by helping them enter non-traditional sectors such as electrical work, automobile repair and electronics, traditionally dominated by men. Through hands-on training, counselling and job placement, the program provides young women with the skills and confidence they need to build a dignified and independent life.
This program has changed Sakshi Chitte’s life in Wadgaon, Sambhajinagar. She lives with her parents and two siblings. Her father struggles with alcoholism and often stays away from home, contributing little support. Her mother works as a domestic helper nearby due to financial hardship. As a result, Sakshi was only able to complete her 12th-grade education and often missed school to support her mother with small jobs. Despite these hardships, Sakshi’s biggest dream was to ensure her siblings received an education. She stated, “My education may have stopped, but my brother’s and sister’s education must continue.”
To support her family, she worked as a daily laborer, contributing every rupee she could. A turning point came when her neighbors Priyanka, Neelam, and Sunita shared that they had found jobs after completing electrical training at CYDA. Their success motivated Sakshi to take a significant step in her life.

She enrolled in CYDA’s Electrical Assistant Course and Soft Skills program. At first, she doubted herself, “Can I really do this?” But as the days passed, she learnt new concepts, practised hands-on tasks, and slowly began to believe in her own abilities. Her hesitation transformed into confidence. She started taking responsibility at home and at work. The guidance of CYDA trainers gave her courage, direction and a sense of purpose.
After completing her training, she secured a job at BG Li-In Pvt. Ltd., where she now earns Rs . 13,000/- per month. With her income, she covers household expenses, pays for her brother’s studies, and helps her mother improve the house. Her mother is happy and feels proud to see her daughter working in a private company. Sakshi says with determination, “I will not stop here; I want to go further.”
