Struggling with Education and Expectations
Karan’s journey began like many youths—losing interest in academics despite his potential. The pressure to fit into a traditional success model burdenedhim. His parents, though supportive, made it clear that he would have to finance his dream of becoming a rapper on his own. Struggling to balance his passion with financial reality, he worked hard, dealing in spare automobile parts to save for a music studio. Despite limited resources, he lacked skill-building opportunities and guidance, leaving him uncertain of how to navigate his path.
A Pivotal Point
Everything changed when Karan joined CYDA during his 10th-grade year. The organization’s youth-focused programs opened doors to new possibilities. Here, he found a sense of community, mentorship, and most importantly, the skills-building opportunities he had longed for. CYDA provided a platform where Karan enhanced his academic foundation through remedial classes but also developed the personal and professional skills he needed to succeed.
One of the most impactful experiences Karan had was through the TARANG program, which offered sessions on topics like sexual education—something that felt overlooked during his school years. This holistic approach was an awakening for Karan, who had always felt that traditional education did not address the full spectrum of life skills. Moreover, he was provided with an opportunity to improve his public speaking, gain stage confidence, and learn essential communication skills. These programs helped Karan grow academically; they empowered him to develop a stronger sense of self, both as a person and as an artist.

Within no time, the rap garnered over 5,000 views, marking a major milestone for Karan.

He learnt to create music, connect with his audience, refine his skills, and collaborate, turning his personal dream into a shared vision with his community.
