About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Specialist in Solid Waste Management (SWM) to join our team in Penduruti, Vizag. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of SWM principles and practices, with 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the field. You will play a crucial role in planning, implementing, and monitoring SWM initiatives, ensuring effective waste management and promoting environmental sustainability in the region.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Planning and Implementation:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive SWM plans and strategies for Penduruti.
    • Design and oversee the implementation of waste collection, transportation, processing, and disposal systems.
    • Conduct waste audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
    • Develop and implement community awareness and education programs on SWM best practices.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Provide technical guidance and support on all aspects of SWM, including waste segregation, composting, recycling, and landfill management.
    • Stay updated on the latest SWM technologies and best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and standards.
  • Community Engagement and Mobilization:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local leaders, and stakeholders.
    • Facilitate community participation in SWM initiatives.
    • Conduct community meetings and workshops to promote waste segregation and responsible waste disposal.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track the progress and impact of SWM programs.
    • Collect and analyze data on waste generation, collection, and disposal.
    • Prepare regular reports on program activities and outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Coordination:
    • Coordinate with local government agencies, NGOs, and other partner organizations.
    • Represent the organization at relevant meetings and events.
    • Liaise with waste management contractors and service providers.
  • Training and Capacity Building:
    • Develop and deliver training programs for community members, sanitation workers, and other stakeholders on SWM best practices.
    • Build the capacity of local communities to manage their waste effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Solid Waste Management.
  • Strong understanding of SWM principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Experience in planning and implementing SWM programs.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Language Skills:

  • Proficient in English (both spoken and written).
  • Proficient in Telugu (spoken)
