Nanded, January 29, 2025 – In a landmark initiative towards social inclusion and empowerment, CYDA (Center for Youth Development and Activities) and the Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare Office, Nanded District, successfully organized a Transgender Identity Card Camp. The camp aimed to facilitate the official registration and issuance of identity cards for transgender individuals, ensuring their legal recognition and access to government schemes and benefits.
This collaborative effort was made possible with the valuable contributions of the Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare, Mr. Shivanand Mingire, and his dedicated team of officials. Their commitment played a crucial role in ensuring the seamless execution of the camp. The Inclusion Unit members of CYDA, along with key program officers, provided vital assistance in streamlining the registration process and addressing queries from participants.
The transgender community often faces numerous challenges in securing legal identification documents, which are essential for accessing fundamental rights, social security benefits, and employment opportunities. Many individuals encounter discrimination and bureaucratic hurdles while applying for identity documents. Recognizing these struggles, CYDA and the Social Welfare Department took proactive steps to bridge this gap by organizing the camp.
The event witnessed active participation from various stakeholders. The Inclusion Unit Head, Pritesh Kamble (Pune), Program Officer Milan (Pune), and Program Officer Gajanan Dhere (Nanded) played an instrumental role in organizing the event and guiding attendees. Their expertise and dedication helped create an inclusive and supportive environment for all transgender individuals present at the camp.
During the event, officials provided assistance in the registration process, verified necessary documents, and facilitated the issuance of identity cards. Participants received guidance on how these identity cards can be used to avail various government welfare schemes, educational benefits, healthcare services, and employment opportunities.
In a special ceremony held on February 22, 2025, Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare, Mr. Shivanand Mingire, officially distributed identity cards to 22 registered transgender individuals. This milestone marked a significant step towards equal rights and social acceptance.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the initiative, stating that it would help them gain legal recognition and lead a life with dignity.
